Famed New York cocktail bar Death & Co. is coming to Australia

Influential New York cocktail bar Death & Co. is the latest institution from the states to plan an Aussie visit, announcing a pop-up tour that will leap across late January and early February at some of the country’s best bars.

Brought down in partnership with Australian Venue Co. and Aviation Gin, the pioneering speakeasy-style bar will bring their cocktail knowhow first to Perth’s Wolf Lane on Wednesday 29th January, then Sydney’s The Winery on Sunday 2nd February, and finally Melbourne’s Trinket on Wednesday 5th February.

Each of the pop-up experiences will take in a bespoke cocktail and paired food menu curated and hosted by Death & Co. partners David Kaplan and Alex Day. Tickets will be available for $95pp, which includes three paired cocktails and a welcome shot which will be paired with a different snack each city (Melbourne, for example, has a Lamington Magnum with dessert peach and Mt Zero pink salt).

Those who want to get their hands on Death & Co.’s signed Cocktail Codex book can bump their ticket price up to $145pp.

The food menus will each be individualised to the location, exploring various flavours and leaning heavy on experimentation. Sydney, for example, will pair cocktails like the “Trust Fall” with a dish of Drunk Mussels mixed with Aviation Gin, tomato, absinthe and lemon. The “Getaway Car”(feature image) will come with some Harissa Chicken served with Moroccan chickpeas, pomegranate, yoghurt and manuka honey. The farewell “Cartado” shot plays with a deep fried Carrot Cake.

Since its opening in 2006 in Manhattan’s East Village in New York, Death & Co has been a
must-visit destination for serious drinks and cocktail enthusiasts, and the winner of several
major industry awards, including America’s Best Cocktail Bar and World’s Best Cocktail Menu at
Tales of the Cocktail. Boasting supremely talented and creative bar staff and uniquely.
