Epic program announced for Melbourne’s Good Beer Week 2017

Australia’s premier craft beer festival, Good Beer Week is returning to Melbourne from 12-21 May for its seventh year, celebrating the best of Australian and International brews. To help punters choose their own Good Beer Week adventure, this year’s program has been streamlined into four main categories: Beer Lover, Foodie, Beer Geek, and Good Times.

The festival will take place over nine days with over 250 events; from basketball competitions, live music and a brewery circus to opera at St Paul’s Cathedral and international guest chef degustations. In an exciting addition to this year’s program, Mountain Goat Brewery is partnering up with Smudge Eats and 20 of Melbourne’s beloved restaurants to help feed the hungry festival masses with the all-new Smudge Eats Menu Presented by Mountain Goat. Punters can enjoy a two course set lunch, washed down with a glass of Mountain Goat brew for $40 per person.

As part of this year’s Good Beer Mates program, Good Beer Week will play hostto some of biggest stars in the US and international brewing scene, including Ken Grossman,founder of Sierra Nevada Brewing Co, who is heading to Le Bon Ton in Collingwood for an exclusive and intimate evening, sharing new brews paired with a delicious Texan feast. Ryan Schmeige,assistant brewer at Deschutes Brewery will share some of his beer knowledge with a lucky few, along with some very limited edition kegs as part of the Monsters of U.S Craft Party and Masterclass Series at the Carwyn Cellars in hornbury.

Cocktail aficionados will not want to miss the special collaboration between Portland’s Jacob Grier and the award winning Black Pearl bartenders, who will come together for one night only to create what promises to be an intriguing and innovative cocktail menu using beer.

Presented by The Crafty Pint, the Pint of Origin (POO) series will once again be taking over taps at some of Melbourne’s favourite watering holes, bringing brewers, bars and beer lovers together to showcase the best beers from Australia and abroad. For the week of the festival, punters can head to any of the 17 participating venues for a chance to try special, limited edition Australian and international brews and collaborations from Perth to Portland, Oregon. Meet some of the world’s best brewers in person while enjoying a range of free and fun entertainment.
