Eau-de-Vie to host a whisky degustation dinner so rare that tickets are over $1000 (Melbourne)

Single malt fanatics in Melbourne have a very unique event to look forward to come September. It’s an exclusive whisky degustation dinner, said to be the only one of its kind in the world, hosted by constant award-winner Eau-de-Vie Melbourne. It won’t be cheap either; tickets to the dinner at priced at $1,500 per head, giving guests access to an intimate celebrate where a table of 16 will be able to taste five extremely rare and unique Single Malt Scotch Whiskies aged up to 46 years.

The ultra exclusive drams have been taken from The Balvenie DCS Compendium Chapter One, a premium series of single cask whiskies with only 50 editions produced globally, all of which have now been sold into private collections around the globe, including just one edition for Eau-de-Vie Melbourne.

Eau-de-Vie have decided to host this event to celebrate the bar’s monumental coup in securing the very final edition of these prestigious bottlings, which have been valued at the modest sum of $57,000. This means that Eau-de-Vie Melbourne has the very prestigious honour of being the only bar in the world where scotch lovers can enjoy such a tasting.

The DCS Compendium was launched in 2015 by The Balvenie Malt Master, David Stewart, and comprises of 25 whiskies (5 Chapters in total), released over five years, to celebrate his incredible career.

Those with the cash to head along to this dinner will be treated to a five-course degustation on Eau-de-Vie’s custom-made table in “The Library”. Full details of the menu are being kept under wraps for now, but its being designed by talented Head Chef Paul Bertheau who has worked carefully to pair each of these five courses with the rare whiskies: the 1968 Aged 46 years, 1978 Aged 37 years, 1985 Aged 30 Years, 1997 Aged 17 years, 2005 Aged 9 years.
