Austin’s inaugural Sound on Sound Festival to feature Courtney Barnett and Jagwar Ma

One of America’s hotspots for live music is Austin, Texas, bouyed by events and festival like SXSW and Austin City Limits, but offering live music experiences every day of the week. Another popular festival over the last decade has been Fun Fun Fun Festival, America’s only genre based festival and a favourite on the annual calendar. Sadly, the event’s parent company, Transmission Events, split up a few months ago, leaving its future unknown.

In its wake, however, a new festival called Sound on Sound has popped up, which will take place 35 miles east of the city in Sherwood Forest and feature an eclectic lineup across three days in November (4th, 5th and 6th to be precise). Carrying over FFF Fest’s love for hip-hop, among the headliners are Run The Jewels, Young Thug and Big Boi, but elsewhere you’ll find the likes of Phantogram (who’ll be in Australia over New Years), Descendents, Guided by Voices, Explosions in the Sky, Beach House, Purity Ring and many more.

Two major Australian names will also make up part of the lineup – with Courtney Barnett one of the headliners on the third and final day, while Sydney’s Jagwar Ma will make an appearance on the Saturday. The full lineup is below and you can find out more details on the event’s official website.
