Air New Zealand sets sights on Hobart with new service from Auckland

Once quarantine-free travel is up and running, Air New Zealand will introduce a non-stop service between Auckland and Hobart as its tenth Australian destination.

The route will provide a much-needed economic boost to both cities and their respective tourism industries, as well as open Kiwi’s up to the absolute wonder of one of Australia’s best cities. Hopefully it’ll be in time for Dark Mofo, which will take place in the Tasmanian city from 16th to 22nd June.

In 2019, roughly 57,000 passengers travelled from New Zealand to Tasmania, so its expected that this two-day-weekly, four-hour service will stimulate greater demand between the two cities.

Flights will take place on Thursdays and Sundays to maximise any long weekend opportunities for travellers.

The route between both cities will be services on Air New Zealand’s A320neo fleet. Although prices have yet to be confirmed, tickets will go on sale once quarantine-free travel across the Tasman has been confirmed.
