The Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (Gen 10) desktop gaming PC is an undisputed powerhouse

Lenovo have released the Legion Tower 7i, a radical new tower that combines form and function with an impressive lighting rig and easy to upgrade inside, making this the ultimate PC gaming tower.

The Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (Gen 10) doesn’t radically reinvent Lenovo’s flagship desktop formula, but it doesn’t need to. Instead, it refines, tightens, and supercharges what was already one of the best pre-built gaming PCs on the market.

With top-tier performance, excellent thermals, class-leading upgradeability, and a more compact chassis, this is Lenovo’s strongest Legion Tower yet. I was fortunate to pair this review with the new Lenovo Legion monitor. Together, this combo not only looks spectacular but also delivers a premium PC gaming experience.

Yes, it’s expensive. But if you’re after a no-compromise, long-term desktop gaming rig that’s ready for 4K, ray tracing, and future upgrades, the Legion Tower 7i earns its premium price point.

Design

Lenovo sticks with the familiar Legion aesthetic: clean lines, tempered glass side panel, restrained RGB, and an overall look that balances “gaming PC” flair with desk-friendly professionalism. It’s subtle enough for a home office, but still unmistakably high-end.

The real win this generation is size. Lenovo has trimmed the Tower 7i down to a 34-litre chassis, shaving height and length without sacrificing cooling or expandability. It’s still larger than compact competitors, but for a full-fat flagship tower, the footprint feels impressively efficient.

Port selection remains generous, with meaningful upgrades to bandwidth. The front panel now includes a 10Gbps USB-C port, while the rear gains a full 40Gbps Thunderbolt 4 connection with Power Delivery 3.1 and DisplayPort 2.1—future-proofing this machine in all the right ways.

Built to Be Opened (and Upgraded)

One of the Legion Tower’s greatest strengths remains ease of access. Two thumbscrews remove the glass side panel, revealing a clean, well-organised interior built around an Intel Z890 motherboard. Helpful barcodes inside the case link directly to Lenovo’s support documentation, an underrated touch that makes ownership far less intimidating for traditional console gamers like myself.

Despite the smaller chassis, expansion options are excellent. You get four RAM slots (supporting up to 128GB, including CUDIMM for overclocking), four M.2 SSD slots with PCIe Gen5 support, dual 3.5-inch HDD bays, and multiple PCIe expansion slots. Large GPUs do make some areas tighter to reach, but everything you’d expect from a flagship tower is present and accounted for.

Performance

The configuration is an absolute beast; the tower packs an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 with 16GB of VRAM, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB of PCIe Gen4 SSD storage. In short, an absolute powerhouse of a tower, built to impress both inside and out.

At 4K, the Legion Tower 7i chews through modern games at maximum settings with ease. Whether it’s fast-paced racers, competitive shooters, or fully ray-traced cinematic showcases, performance is consistently excellent. Even the most demanding titles feel smooth and responsive, with DLSS and frame generation pushing frame rates into eye-watering territory when enabled.

I played a range of games during this review, including Spider-Man 2, Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars Outlaws. I can’t put it any other way, other than stating that it delivered the perfect cinematic gaming experience. No stuttering or lag during, just pure unbridled performance.

The only minor blemish is storage speed. Lenovo’s included PCIe Gen4 SSDs are perfectly fine in day-to-day use, but they’re not class-leading. Given the system’s PCIe Gen5 support, it’s a missed opportunity not to offer faster drives out of the box, though you can easily upgrade.

The thermals are excellent across the board. Lenovo’s updated cooling solution keeps temperatures under control even during extended gaming sessions, with no signs of throttling. Better still, it does so quietly. Even under full load, fan noise is easily drowned out by a gaming headset, making this one of the more refined high-performance towers I’ve played with.

Software & Customisation

Lenovo’s Legion Space software is clean, stable, and easy to navigate, offering basic performance profiles, RGB customisation, and light GPU tuning. However, if you want something deeper and more customisable, you may find it a little limiting. The advanced overclocking tools and deeper system controls are largely absent in both software and the BIOS, which does set this back a little bit.

That said, this remains a desktop that prioritises reliability and stability over endless tweaking.

Price

There’s no getting around it: the Legion Tower 7i is expensive. Comparable configurations from competitors can undercut Lenovo by several hundred dollars on paper. But raw specs aren’t the whole story.

What Lenovo offers here is polish and the complete package, better cooling, quieter operation, cleaner internal design, excellent support, and one of the most upgrade-friendly pre-built towers available. It’s the kind of PC you buy once and continue evolving for years. If you can snag it during a sale, even better—but even at full price, the value you are getting here is unmatched.

Verdict & Value

The Lenovo Legion Tower 7i (Gen 10) is everything a flagship pre-built gaming PC should be. It’s brutally powerful, thoughtfully designed, whisper-quiet under load, and built with longevity in mind. While it commands a premium, the experience justifies the cost.

Each gaming session loaded in a flash, and editing YouTube videos and audio for podcasts was buttery smooth.

Once again, Lenovo has delivered my favourite pre-built desktop gaming PC with continued innovation and a focus on quality and performance. It is the ultimate pc tower.
