Samsung’s outdoor 4K Terrace QLED is coming to Australia

Samsung has announced a game-changing QLED 4K TV designed especially for outdoor set-ups, forming a new category that nods to an increasing need for flexibility to complement a wider range of home designs.

Dubbed The Terrace, the new TV will be arriving in Australia next month in 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch sizes, sporting the company’s tightly curated Smart TV features and a promise of superior sound.

“As a nation we love the outdoors and entertaining, especially we as we come into summer, and The Terrace brings outdoor entertainment to life,” said ass Mahdi, Director of Audio Visual, Samsung Electronics Australia. “With a crystal clear QLED display and advanced Anti-Glare Technology, The Terrace is ideal to watch the game with mates over a BBQ, or enjoy a family movie night on a warm summer’s evening.”

Of course, a TV designed specifically for the outdoors should have a few significant changes when compared to its house-trained counterparts. That includes a substantial max brightness of 2,000 nits to go with the 4K resolution QLED display, and an IP552 weather resistance rating. That aforementioned Anti-Glare tech has been included to help stop reflections getting in the way of the action, which should up the options when deciding how and where to position the TV.

There’s also a big nod to sports fans seeing as they have obviously been front-and-centre in the design brief. There’s a high 200Hz Motion Rate ideal for fast-moving content, complemented by wide viewing angles.

The Terrace’s release date in Australia will also see it on shelves alongside a new Terrace Soundbar, specifically designed to complement the outdoor TV with a one-body design that’s also rugged with an IP55 rated water resistance. It can of course be mounted to a wall or sit directly under the TV, working mainly with 3.0 channel audio and Distortion Cancelling technology with wide range tweeters.

The Terrace will start from an RRP of A$5,999 for the 55-inch size, while The Terrace Soundbar will be priced at A$1,299. Both will be available from October 2020 at leading retailers nationally or online at samsung.com.au.
