Next weekend, the long awaited Wollongong festival Yours & Owls will be kicking off. Watch your favorite Aussie bands go crazy on stage at Stuart Park on Saturday the 29th and Sunday the 30th of September from 11:30am until 11:00pm. We hope you have secured tickets because this major NSW festival is packing fans from all over the country and has sold out already.
Headlining this year are Peking Duk, Jungle Giants, Ocean Alley and Middle Kids on Saturday, and on Sunday expect Angus & Julia Stone, Alison Wonderland, Methel Ethel, Hockey Dad, and many more. Yours & Owls is mainly featuring homegrown musicians to support local bands. No matter if you are a Punk or Indie fan, the eclectic mix of this year’s artists and genres will make you sing and jump all day long. But music isn’t the only part of Y & O to get excited about; the festival will be hosting food from all over the world. Enjoy Greek Souvlaki, Spanish Tapas or Mexican Tacos, and of course the millennial’s favourite food, the avocado will not be missed either. Head to the Avocado Hut to get your daily fill of the green goodness.
Once you’ve snacked and danced your way through Stuart Park, watch the AFL and NFL grand finals at the newest edition of the venue, the Jeb Taylor Hotel. The Australian Football League will be screened on Saturday at 2:30pm and the NFL final can be seen the following day at 7:20pm. Alongside a big screen and beers the Jeb Taylor Hotel will play some classic hits, provide hungry mouths with food, and host a game commentary.
For those who are no footy fanatics but still want to relax a bit, Yours & Owls has set up the Octopus Garden. Here you will not be served seafood but delicious cocktails. Kick back in a shady space and listen to some tunes, while resting your legs. Check out the map below to not get lost at the venue.
The festival is located close to the North Wollongong train station at Stuart Park. To get there we encourage you to take public transport, as the city’s parking spots are limited. Hop onto the free festival shuttle, running every 15 minutes on both days from 11am until 11pm, for a comfy and carefree ride from station to festival and back. The last train home for Sydney-siders will leave at 11:34pm and if you are heading to Nowra the last service will be at 1:08am.
To quench your thirst the festival has set up multiple fresh water refill stations. Take your own reusable bottle to minimise waste around the venue and make sure to have your ID, the tickets and some sun protection in handy, but most important: bring a great attitude and some killer dance moves.
