Track of the Day: Ruby Fields “Dinosaurs” (2018)

Ruby Fields‘ solid 2018 continues, with the release today of the Sydney artist’s new single “Dinosaur”, following on from the success of previous singles “P Plates” and “Ritalin”, not to mention her debut EP Your Dad’s Opinion for Dinner.

“Dinosaurs” is a stunning track – really beautiful stuff – understated initially, with a focus on Fields’ vocals and lyrics, before a cathartic explosion of sound in the closing minute. There’s a tinge of melancholy to the record, but it’s never dour or overbearing, instead there is an emotional vulnerability to Fields’ delivery that is endearing and reflects an ever increasing maturity to her songwriting.

With Fields’ currently at work on a forthcoming EP, “Dinosaurs” is tantalising glimpse at whats to come. 2018 might have been a big year for 2018 so far, but it’s not over yet, and with her inclusion on the Laneway line-up 2019 isn’t looking too shabby either!

You can catch Ruby Fields on the road for the rest of September and October, supporting Ball Park Music and San Cisco on dates across the country (dates below). She’ll also be appearing at Laneway Festival in the new year. Until then keep up to date with the latest on her Facebook HERE
