Track of the Day: Kim Churchill “After The Sun” (2019)

It’s looking to be a big year ahead for Australian artist Kim Churchill, with four location-based EP’s set to be released across 2019 and 2020 that took the acclaimed singer/songwriter to Germany, Canada, Australia and the UK; with each EP written and recorded in their respective location.

The first track to emerge from this project “After The Sun” comes off the Germany EP, which he recorded in Berlin with Vincent Kottkam and Chris Collins (Gang of Youths, Middle Kids). The track emerges with a beautiful groove, transforming into an effortlessly catchy Summer anthem; one that you can dance to, surf to, or just relax in the backyard to as you waste away those Summer days and nights.

We’re incredibly excited to hear what comes next. But until then, get your ears around this juicy number, our track of the day:

SONG LYRICS:

We’ve been chasing the sun for millions and millions of days’ now
And looking for things that don’t like to be found
We’ve been chasing our dreams in millions and millions of ways now
We get home from work so tired with nothing to say now
I’m looking at you and you’re looking at me
I can tell by your eyes that your millions of miles away now

Run after the sun
The night is for dreaming why would we run
Another day will come
And all of these feelings soon will be done
Worlds are turning, days are coming
Oh my love now why are we running
After the Sun
No need to run when the sun is coming
No need to run when the sun is coming
No need to run when the sun is coming

There are millions of lights, they’re so bright that we don’t see the stars now
We wander around in an evanescent glow
All these millions of lights, they’re so bright that the night time is ours’ now

We get home so late that the sun is about to rise now
I’m looking at you and you’re looking at me
I can tell by your eyes that your millions of miles away now

Run after the sun
The night is for dreaming why would we run
Another day will come
And all of these feelings soon will be done
Worlds are turning, days are coming
Oh my love now why are we running
After the Sun
No need to run when the sun is coming
No need to run when the sun is coming
No need to run when the sun is coming

No need to lie when your heart is hurting
Sometimes I try too hard to be something
No need to run when the sun is coming
No need to love when your heart is hurting
Sometimes I try too hard to be something
Sometimes I try too hard to be something
