Track of the Day: imbi the girl feat. Genesis Owusu “peaches & scream” (2019)

Non-binary neo-soul artist imbi the girl is gearing up to release their new EP, back then, and we’ve got a little taste of what’s to come in today’s Track of the Day, “peaches & scream“.

back then will see imbi delve into their past, exploring the childhood experiences that have brought the artist to where they are now. imbi says:

“For the first time, I felt safe and able to authentically express myself in a studio, mostly unaffected by self-doubt (or at least strong enough to overcome it). To me, this EP is a tool for ‘inner child work’ and has served as an invaluable aid in my processing of select childhood experiences; it has left me with a deeper understanding of myself, appreciation for the moments that have shaped me, taught me how to comfort myself in moments triggered by emotional wounds from my youth, and helped me manifest genuine self-love and nurturing which is truly life-altering magick. I hope that it might serve others in a similar, tender, loving way.”

Latest single “peaches & scream” has imbi teaming up with Genesis Owusu, on a melodic track that showcases the reckless and all-consuming nature of childhood crushes. Give it a listen below!

Upcoming EP back then will be released on November 14th. Pre-order it here!
You can catch imbi the girl on their Our Room tour later this week:
