Track of the Day: Crowd Company “Express 76” (2019)

London-based eight piece funk and soul outfit Crowd Company have today dropped their delightful new instrumental, “Express 76”.

The up-tempo and high impact new single also has the group expand their number. The track features guest appearances from sax and trumpet virtuosos Ryan Zodias and Eric Bloom from the veteran US funk band Lettuce.

“Express 76” is the first taste from the band’s groups next release, which is due in late January on Vintage League Music. Both album and single were recorded at the studio of Alan Evans (Soulive/Ae3) in Millers Falls, USA. Evans was also in charge of production duties.

“Express 76” is all you want from a funk/soul instrumental. It’s high octane, it’s groovy and with its dynamic Hammond organ dominant and a killer horn section, it’s as if it has been lifted from any number of classic albums or soundtracks from the 60’s or 70’s. Turn this one up loud and get yourself ready for the weekend the right way!
