We (Lowlakes) arrived in Berlin two days ago; we’re here for a handful of shows with Canadian band Half Moon Run. The first is in Hamburg tomorrow, so we’ve had a bit of time to kick around the city.
It’s autumn here in Europe, so there are fallen leaves everywhere. We hired some bikes today and cruised around Kreuzberg. The roads run opposite to back in Aus so we had a few run-ins with cars, other cyclists and stray dogs. No helmets, though.
We have been doing some touristy stuff. The Berlin wall is as strong a feature as you’d expect, packed with people trying to grab a bit of history. Us included.

The backpackers we’re staying at is a tidy joint, with way too many young, young kids in it. There are school tours aplenty at the moment because Summer’s over, so we’ve been sharing communal areas with 45 15 year olds. We don’t speak German much either, so have no idea what they say about us. Our room was all our own too, until three Canadian backpackers crashed in at 1am today. They were friendly enough, but our behaviour changed hugely as soon as they walked into the room, and slept in bunks with us all…
There’s a massive pool table in the foyer of the hostel, so we’ve had some huge games. Brent’s (pictured) a natural, so it’s All vs him.
We rehearsed today too, in a bunker studio just down the road. Our tour van is currently loaded up with our stuff overnight, ready to head to Hamburg for the first show tomorrow. We can’t wait to meet up with Half Moon Run and play to the Euro audiences!
