The Veronicas on their debut performance in Singapore & writing for album number four

While in Singapore for the Music Matters conference this month, Larry sat down with the Origliasso sisters, Jess and Lisa, to chat about The Veronicas‘ first performance in this part of the globe. The duo brought their new sounds (as well as cuts from their last two records) to Singaporean fans after much anticipation and waiting as part of the Aussie contingent of artists taking part in the music showcase series and as we find out, the wait was definitely worth it.

“We’re absolutely in love with being here,” Lisa says. “From the moment we landed we felt at home. I don’t know if that’s real balmy heat that we love, but it’s very Brisbane in that sense. We immediately felt very much at home here. This is actually a really special trip for us because it’s the first time we’ve been able to perform live here in Singapore. We have so many fans here who have been waiting to see us…it was really incredible to meet them and see them in front of us, singing every word back.”

While their smash single “In My Blood” has taken The Veronicas to the top of charts back home, the focus has very much been on the creation of their new album, The Veronicas’ fourth studio release and the follow up to 2014’s self-titled record.

“We did a lot our writing and recording in the UK this time, which we haven’t done [a lot of] previously.” Jess says. “We’ve done a lot in Sweden, we’ve done a lot in LA and New York, so to spend a fair bit of time in the UK and specifically London, has been so inspiring. We love the British. They get the electronic, 80’s thing there, on a soul level or something. We’ve really connected with some incredible writers there.”

“We’re thrilled to be creating a new record,” Lisa mentions. “”In My Blood” is definitely a really cool indication of where we’re taking this new sound. It’s very much in that hypnotic, emotive, electronic, atmospheric…it’s in that scope but again, each song is so different. It’s exciting. We’re going to be releasing a new single in November and the album hopefully early next year.”
