Women in Electronic Music

In recent years, gender inequality within the music industry has been slowly but steadily gaining attention. Most of the dialogue so far has been about highlighting the key issues. This year however, MusicNSW has decided to take the next step of discussing ideas on how best to address the issue, through their very first Women in Electronic Music program held in Sydney.

The program’s main event will be the roundtable discussion between experts from various parts of the industry, focusing on developing a strategic plan to address the gender inequality issue within the electronic music scene. Guest speakers include electronic musician Banoffee, Anna Fitzgerald from the Ministry of Sound, and Caroline Gates from FBi Radio. Ticket information can be found HERE.

The program will also feature a night of free live performances from six female electronic artists such as Banoffee, Rainbow Chan, GL and BUOY, at Sydney’s MCA Rooftop venue. Finally, those who are interested in developing their skills in electronic music production, can also attend a masterclass taught by Kučka and Elizabeth Rose. Application information can be found HERE.
