the AU playlist: Panama presents their 10 Favourite Tracks

Hot on the heels of releasing their latest music video Stay Forever, the boys in Panama will be hitting the stage tomorrow night for the Halloween party at Luna Park in Sydney: Ouija Beats. In anticipation for the night, we asked the band to share with us their ten favourite tracks at the moment for today’s featured Playlist:

Soul II Soul “Back To Life”

I’ve been digging this track a lot lately. It’s great going back and listening to older material, I find I can hear a lot of new things I didn’t pick up on as a kid.

Rhythim is Rhythim “Strings of Life”

Another old gem. Back at the start of house music I believe.

Inner City – Good Life

Lately I’ve also been getting into some early techno. This is another track I remember first hearing as a child, now it’s a classic.

Metro Area “Let’s Get…”

I’ve always been a big fan of DFA, I think I picked up on Metro Area through an interview James Murphy did on youtube. If you listen closely you can hear all sorts of similarities in the sounds, especially I think the drums.

Machinedrum “Centre Your Love”

Here is a more modern track I have been enjoying lately. It’s built around this cycle of suspended chords, I think that’s what got me into it from the start.

Jamie xx “Sleep Sound”

Another producer I have been enjoying lately. I really like his mix of… how can i describe it? Soul in a track I guess. It just sounds good.

SBTRKT “Temporary View”

Probably the best act I saw at Leeds festival. I’m also a big fan of Sampha’s voice, when I first heard it I thought it was James Blake (yes it’s that good to my ears).

Bobby Byrd “Hot Pants (I’m Coming)”

Does the drum break sound familiar? that’s because the Stone Roses used it in Fools Gold.

Cristalli Liquidi “Volevi Una Hit”

I’m a big fan of Italo Disco, this track is great. A little bit LCD sound system and all Italo.

Kate Bush “Running up That Hill”

Another classic. Still gives me shivers.
