the AU interview: Ruby Boots (Perth) talks about her brand new album "Solitude" (out Friday) and touring with Tony Joe White!

Eclectic and acclaimed, Ruby Boots surely needs little introduction. After popping by to perform her latest single “Wrap Me in a Fever” (watch that HERE), the Perth songstress sat down to talk about her brand new album Solitude and touring with Tony Joe White, Shakey Graves and Shovels & Rope!

In the interview, we talk about touring the country, “I love NSW, I love playing in Sydney, it’s one of my favourites if not my favourite place to play in Australia”. On touring with Tony, “it’s (been) an honour… he’s kind of like the Godfather isn’t he? We’ve been really fortunate to open for him, it’s been great watching him every night and getting down and dirty with the Blues.”

Ruby also looks back on touring with Shakey Graves and Shovels and Rope and talks about how she fits into their style of Americana, “Intrinsically, I’ve been doing that with a bit more of a country edge for six or seven years, it’s nice to feel it coming down here from North America and being able to fit into that”.

Talking about writing the new album Solitude, she revealed one collaboration that made its way into the process: “There are a few tracks on there I wrote with Vikki Thorn of The Waifs… over two different writing trips to her ranch in Utah. “Middle of Nowhere” was the first song we wrote together.”
