Perth based Indie-alternative-pop duo Japanese Tongue Sisters also known as Sophie and Tom, discuss their last minute Canadian Music Week booking with Larry. Luckily enough for Sophie and Tom, CMW managed to squeeze them into the showcase after receiving their acceptance letters late. After a stressful ordeal, they made it onto the bill,being the only Australian band at The Velvet Underground venue, playing a successful show on the Thursday. Click through for the full interview…

After CMW, the duo plan on moving to Melbourne in order to work on and eventually release their first EP, which they are thrilled to announced. To fuse their genre with electronic elements and share the reigns of creative direction,a unique process is applied, Sophie says “we both share lead vocals, so there’s both of singing, heaps of harmonies, layered vocals”. Starting as an acoustic duo has brought them full circle back to being just the two of them.Having experienced being a part of a bigger band, performing with just two members opens a foreground for experimenting with more instruments.
