the AU interview at BIGSOUND: Food Court (Sydney) talk touring, playing live and what makes or breaks a burger

Lewis, Nic, Christian and Dan from garage rock band Food Court sat down with the AU’s editor-in-chief Larry at BIGSOUND in Brisbane. Being back on the road again, the band discuss the exhilarating trials of new songs in front of festival crowds and plans for an EP. Click through to read more…

From releasing singles and progressing their live shows, the direction toward a possible new EP has the band wanting to surprise the fans. Guitarist Lewis and his food metaphor effectively sums up the progression; “We started a little bit fruity to begin with, now we’re moving into the meat and potatoes section. We’re hoping to get to dessert soon. By the time the EP comes out that’s when desserts on”. Lead vocalist Christian further reflects on future plans, saying; “we’re taking more time to develop stuff this time. Write a lot of songs and then just make sure we sit down, have a lot of time, not stress, and then make it better than our last stuff”.

On the road in front of crowds presents the thrill of playing new music live, “it’s pretty easy to see if a song doesn’t work, they wont look at you”, says Dan. “it’s like bungee jumping I guess. It scares the shit out of you but its a thrill”. Aside from their love of music, it’s no shock that Food Court can’t get food off their minds. Watch the pineapple and beetroot burger debate followed by the ultimate burger test below!
