SXSW Music Interview: Oh Pep! (Melbourne) let us in on what’s looking to be a huge 2016 at the Aussie BBQ!

Next week, Oh Pep! kick off their Australian east coast tour starting in Adelaide, before winding down with a show in Sydney in mid-April! The first few months of 2016 have already been busy ones for the Melbourne group, who have been readying their debut album Stadium Cake for release and refining what’s become an excellent and endearing live presence.

Liv Hally and Pep Emmerichs joined us at the Aussie BBQ at SXSW for a chat about the music they’re excited to be releasing and the huge amount of touring Oh Pep! still have to embark on internationally, SXSW providing a great platform to kick the album campaign off on.

“We’re about to launch our debut album within a couple of months,” Pep says. “Our first single’s about to come out and we’re touring Australia as soon as we get home from this in April. Then we’re off to Europe, playing a bunch; we’re playing The Great Escape and we’re supporting Lake Street Dive and then we’re back here! Doing a lot more until possibly August.”

“We’re always playing with lots of different people,” Liv says of the development of their live show now more touring has become a reality. “Now we’re introducing different equipment and pedals, upping our game. It’s super exciting, because we’re changing it up a lot, it’s all really fresh to us and that’s only a good thing. I know a lot of people haven’t heard the songs yet, but they’ve been with us for a while now, so it’s nice. We’re just about to launch it all, so we’ll be playing them for a while more.”
