Supporting your local indie record stores just got easier

Record Store

Indie record stores across Australia, like so many retailers, are doing it tough at the moment due to the COVID-19 crisis. The postponement of Record Store Day, often those stores biggest trading day of the year, until later in the year will only have added to the pressures.

Independent record stores, along with our live music venues, are the lifeblood of the local music industry and ecosystem. They’re the place to discover new bands and new genres. Those indie record stores are also so important for emerging artists, with many stocking new releases from local bands. Releases that might otherwise get overlooked by those bigger retailers.

So our indie record stores need our support. Many are still receiving new stock. A lot of them have online stores now, or are providing a mail order and local delivery service. With that in mind an interactive map has been created to make it easier for music fans to get in touch with their favourite stores, buy some records, and help those stores survive this crisis.

This is all part of the larger global #loverecordstores campaign designed to show our favourite retailers some love. So check out the map and grab a record. Then show your favs some love on the socials with the hashtag #loverecordstores.
