Stella Donnelly dominates at this year’s WAMAwards!

The best of West Australian music and entertainment have gathered for the WAMAwards last week as a part of WAMFest, the state’s celebration of local and international contributions to the West Australian music scene. Lo-Fi guitar pop up-and-comer Stella Donnelly won five out of her six nominations including Best EP, Best Folk Act, Best Single, Best Female Vocalist and Most Popular New Act.

Other winners include Perth art rockers Methyl Ethyl, Perth hip-hop artists Ziggy Ramo and Fremantle six-piece POW! Negro. The prestigious Golden WAMi was awarded to Phaedra Watts for her work with the Nannup Musical Festival and her advocacy for Indigenous artists.

The 24th annual awards also included performances from San Cisco, Stella Donnelly, Harry Mitchell & Daniel Susnjar, John Bennett & David Hyams, RAG N’ BONE, Nerve Quakes, and The Southern River Band, plus after party performances from The Bambuseae Rhythm Section and Timothy Nelson DJ Set.

WAMFest is also releasing a two CD compilation album of the best from award winners and featured artists as a taste of West Australian music.
