He’s just taken out the esteemed Mercury Prize in the UK for his album Konnichiwa but unfortunately for Australian and Kiwi Skepta fans, they won’t be able to see the popular UK artist bring it to life like originally scheduled. This afternoon, the news was released that his entire tour of Australia and New Zealand (due to begin tomorrow night in Auckland), has been cancelled.
No further statement is going to be made, but the official word from Skepta’s team follows the lines of:
“With deep disappointment, Skepta is not able to travel to Australia and New Zealand at this time for an unexpected and personal reason. His tour, planned to commence on Saturday 17 September 2016 is regrettably cancelled. Full ticket refunds will be available on all shows from point of purchase. We are working in close conjunction with the Artist’s booking agency and management in order to organise a new run of shows in 2017.”
