Single of the Day: Opaeka “Risk” (2016)

Today’s Single of the Day is the debut release from Brisbane solo project Opaeka. Even though we’re coming into the summer months, Opaeka pulls out the dark and atmospheric vibes, reminiscent of the likes of Foals and Daughter. The open and roomy indie pop feel of the track is all led by singer and songwriter Roy Gordon’s strong and huge hooks.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Gordon said, “Risk is about the chasm you jump before a relationship. It’s the risk, the raw moment when you tell someone how you feel about them. It’s taking the dive knowing it can go either way.”
