Single of the Day: Hoodlem “Kintsugi” (2016)

Melbourne duo Hoodlem have wasted no time in making their latest impression on many a fucking good one with their new single release, “Kintsugi”! The tune is a slow burner, with some R&B licks that are just so good to get into. Effortlessly cool, Hoodlem have used the idea of ‘Kintsugi’ (the Japanese word for fixing shattered pottery with golden dust) in projecting the age old story of a broken relationship…but this ain’t not stock standard break up tune.

The beats are deep and kissed with a bassline that evokes Flying Lotus-type vibes, making for a smoldering, seductive listen laced with intrigue as to what these two musicians are going to come up with next. Get listening to this one now and keep a trained eye on Hoodlem – they’re onto something great.
