Since hitting the scene as a fresh faced teenager, RUEL has continued to kick goals. He’s on the cusp of releasing his sophomore album, Kicking My Feet, due out on October 17th.
To mark the occasion he’s released a new single “Wild Guess” which has the tonal textures and influences of LA, to where he’s relocated recently from Sydney. The song consists of soft, folk-inspired vocals overlaid with bare acoustic textures. The song explores the thought processes behind trying to understand the reasons behind a breakup. RUEL has released a “Behind the Scenes” making of the song below:
Ruel has worked with an incredible team on the album, including Julian Bunetta (Sabrina Carpenter, One Direction), Joel Little (Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams), Kenny Beats (Dominic Fike, Ed Sheeran), Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift, Chris Stapleton), and longtime collaborator M-Phazes (Eminem, Kehlani, Ruel’s debut album). The resulting album is “deeply personal, blending pop, alt and R&B, into a cohesive, modern sound.”
We caught up with RUEL at Clarity Records in Adelaide on the weekend. He was very generous with his time and he clearly enjoyed chatting to fans, signing posters and taking multiple selfies on phones. He said that he was excited to have the record almost out and looking forward to touring again. He’s doing in-store poster signing at multiple record stores across Australia.

After playing a couple of shows in the States, he’s back for Adelaide’s Harvest Rock on October 25th before a special show on the steps of the Sydney Opera House on Dec 9th.
