Ruby Fields Small Achievements tour kicks off next week

Ruby Fields

Sydney artist, Ruby Fields, is going on the road for her national tour next week, bringing indie rock to stages across Australia with the release of her new album Small Achievements.

The first night of the tour will coincide with the album release date, making for a very special listening party in Melbourne at The Croxton on the 24th of April.

After that, Fields will be playing at stages in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Fremantle. With support from bands, Mac The Knife, *Platonic Sex, and **Smol Fish punters are spoilt to see so much such talent packed into one gig.

The recent release of her single, “Muscle”, has given listeners a taste of what her sophomore album, Small Achievements, has in store for us.

Like all of Fields’s work, “Muscle”, radiates a pure vulnerability which naturally resonates with her listeners. The beginning of the track is reminiscent of a guitar ballad with a modern indie twist, before a climactic gritty guitar solo and bridge that tugs at the heart strings. The song, Fields says, is “an ode to my life in the Northern Rivers. The role of fear and of love in community and in the natural environment”.

Small Achievements builds on this, further reflecting on the last four years Fields has spent living in NSW’s Northern Rivers, and the ups and downs of life there. Dealing with COVID, intense floods, breakups, and death, has manifested as themes on the upcoming album.

Though the album release and tour is no small achievement for the artist, Fields wants this album to be a “reminder to celebrate shit, because we tend to focus on the next big thing without reflecting on how much we’ve already achieved.”
