Slowdive, the shoegaze pioneers from the UK, returned to Australia with New York’s indie darlings, Beach Fossils, performing at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, the first of two nights.
Slowdive’s performance was a masterclass in atmospheric sound. They transported the audience into a world of lush reverb and delicate melodies with the opener “Avalyn”, and tracks including “Star Roving”, “Catch The Breeze” and “Crazy For You”.
The setlist included fan favourites such as “When the Sun Hits” and “No Longer Making Time,” each note resonating deeply with the audience. The encore, featuring “Blue Skied An ‘Clear”, “She Calls” and “40 Days,” left the crowd in a state of blissful reverie, a testament to Slowdive’s enduring legacy in the shoegaze genre.
Opening the night, Beach Fossils delivered a set that was both dreamy and introspective with their jangly guitars and mellow rhythms setting the perfect tone for the evening.
