What a great “Boxing style” introduction for Black Midi entering the stage for their first ever Australian gig at Sydney’s Metro Theatre.

“Ladies and Gentlemen introducing to you, weighing in at 10,000 tonnes of pure steel, they are currently undefeated in their campaign with 3.5 million wins and all of those wins coming in by way of knock out. Hailing from London, England, United Kingdom, the hardest working band in show business, the reigning, the defending and the undefeated and the undisputed super colossal weight champion of the world. Black “Hellfire” Midi”

That set the scene for what was to be an epic night of amazing experimental rock mayhem whipped up by a crowd surfing, moshing, singing along audience.

Black Midi @ Metro Theatre

Black Midi played songs off all their three albums Schlagenheim, Cavalcade and their most recent release 2022 Hellfire also throwing in shorts of ACDC’s ‘Riff Raff’ and Red Hot Chili Pepper’s ‘Can’t Stop’.

Great to see the drummer Morgan Simpson set up at the front of the stage and not at the back as normal for rock and roll bands.

Black Midi were arty, experimental, totally manic and a whole lot of fun.
