Perfume Genius returns with new single from forthcoming album, No Shape, out May 5th

Perfume Genius, the enigmatic musical/art project by Mike Hadreas, has announced his fourth studio album No Shape will be released May 5th on Matador Records. It’s been a patient wait since his breakthrough release Too Bright (2014) which created an instant impression for Perfume Genius as a voice that conducts the world’s first art-pop church music.

The first single from the forthcoming album, “Slip Away”, is a celebratory return to the scene for Perfume Genius. It’s bold, percussion-heavy and beautifully poignant. Not to mention the incredible production on this that you’re gunna have to listen to for yourself to believe.

Regarding the bio for No Shape, writer Choire Sicha says, “God is all around actually and some of these songs are about being equal and some are about the witchcraft of believing. This is church music the same way Prince’s Black Album is–too dirty. It’s femme art pop the way Kate Bush’s The Dreaming is–too scary.”
