Music Video of the Day: WAAX “Wild & Weak” (2017)

Brisbane five-piece WAAX should need no introduction. They’re one of the country’s best independent acts, both their album releases and live performances receiving glowing praise from all directions. They dropped their second EP, Wild & Weak, on June 2nd, which showed a mature direction for the band – tighter riffs, effortless breakdowns, and tackling deeper lyrical content.

They’ve just dropped their video for title track “Wild & Weak”, a startlingly relatable look at a night out in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley. If you’ve been out in the Valley, you’ll understand. If not, think about your last big night out – was it perhaps serving as a sort of escapism?

Front woman Marie DeVita again proves her supernatural gift, commanding a room, the band, and what feels like the camera. If you’ve seen WAAX live, you’ll  understand what I mean – and if you haven’t seen them, rectify your mistake immediately.

Check out the clip below – WAAX have captured the epitome of ‘down and out and getting by’.

WAAX are heading out on their national album tour, kicking off tonight in Adelaide. Tickets are moving fast, head to their website for tickets and a copy of their EP here.
