Music Video of the Day: Tune-Yards “ABC 123” (2017)

Art pop powerhouse Tune-Yards are back with new song “ABC 123”. The accompanying music video, directed by Dear Mr Quistgaard, is a surreal scene featuring the duo in a work shed, the bodiless head of front woman Merrill Garbus selling the song’s story through her facial expressions.

Known for politically charged lyrics, Tune-Yards new single resonates in the context of the US political climate. Tune-Yards definitely don’t shy away from the big topics, with the new album I Can Feel You Creep Into My Private Life exploring environmentalism, race and feminism. The new single talks of “living in a new reality” and “natural freedom up in smoke”, referencing the US election.
