Music Video of the Day: Dan Sultan “Magnetic” (2016)

Dan Sultan has recently shared his new music video for “Magnetic” – definitely striking, definitely memorable. Created by Dropbear, the video took two months to complete, utilising over 60 individual 3D prints and 2,7000 images of Dan. The final result is a brilliant piece of animation to accompany the single, which has definitely struck out as a strong direction Sultan is heading with when it comes to his new music.

As Dropbear has explained, “The first step in the process of making “Magnetic” was to create a 3D scan of Dan’s head and face. This was done by taking a series of photos of Dan at various angles which were then stitched together to create a 3D model. …The animation was predominantly done using stop-motion and was embellished by some 3D animation.”
