Fresh off being announced on the incredible, sold-out Meredith Music Festival lineup, headliners TV on the Radio and Perfume Genius, alongside Sam Austins, have today announced headline shows across Australia’s East Coast.
I was lucky enough to catch TV on the Radio earlier this month in Toronto, Canada, and have to say it was the best form I had seen the band in a long time. They brought the same urgency and electricity as when I first saw them on the Return to Cookie Mountain tour in 2006.
The hour and a half set jumped through material from all five of their full length records, as well as their debut EP, Young Liars, which seems to have found new energy some 22 years after its release. Frontman Tunde Adebimpe was at his best, and multi-instrumentalist Kyp Malone at his most vocal. Even without Dave Sitek on touring duties, it very much felt like they came back just as we needed them the most. And it has been a while between drinks – their last visit to Australia was for Vivid Sydney all the way back in 2015.

Presented by Frontier Touring and Penny Drop, TV on the Radio’s Australian Tour will go on sale on Wednesday 27th August from 11am (local time). Pre-sales will also run on Frontier Touring for 24 hours from Monday 25 August (11am local time) or until presale allocation exhausted. Penny Drop will be running a member presale at the same time.

As for Perfume Genius, he’s back in Australia for the first time since 2022, when he also played Vivid Sydney, as well as Dark Mofo, Melbourne Recital Centre and Brisbane’s Princess Theatre.
This time he’s returning to the Sydney Opera House and a number of venues on the East Coast off the back off his brilliant Blake Mills-produced LP Glory. You can listen to that album, out now via Matador Records / Remote Control, HERE.
On his return, Perfume Genius has this message for his Australian fans: “Australia! We are thrilled to be returning this December and wrapping up the year with a special run of shows, including a headline at Sydney Opera House. Can’t wait to be back.”
All details are linked below and tickets are available via mistletone.net. You can also head to Perfume Genius’s website to sign up for presale. General public tickets for Ballarat, Melbourne and Brisbane go on sale at 9am AEST on Monday 25 August, and Sydney tickets will be on sale from 9am AEST, Friday 29 August.
