Absolut® and Tabasco™ have teamed up to create a spicy new vodka blend. To celebrate, the team have enlisted former Spice Girl and queer icon Melanie C to play a DJ set at a free day party in Sydney at Beresford Sundays on Sunday 15 November.
Beresford Sundays have been hosting Sydney’s iconic Sunday sessions for 16 years, and Melanie C is a perfect match to bring the hot sweaty vibes to the dance floor. Her ninth album, Sweat, was released in May, and will be warming up the crowd in the afternoon before her final live show at Enmore Theatre that evening. Imagine having a spicy vodka drink in hand listening to tasty tunes from one of the coolest DJs in town. She has played everywhere from clubs in Ibiza to Coachella, and you can catch her up close and free.
The event starts at midday, and runs across two stages, multiple floors, from day into night. Downstairs, legacy DJ’s will be playing from Beresford’s 16-year history including Kadance, Colin Gaff, Alex Taylor, CallmeCHRS and Adam Love, spinning everything from disco and house music to pop songs. Upstairs opens at 1pm, with Melanie C headlining the afternoon. It’s a massive afternoon with resident DJ queens Fairah Nuff, Kalin Klein, Danni Issues, Dammit Janet, Mynx Moscato, Karna Ford, April Mae June and Charlamaine spinning their own blend of tunes well into the evening.
Adding to the entertainment are DJs Hayday, Erfaan, Dingo Disco and Jordan Haych. But what about the drink? Absolut Tabasco is crafted by blending Absolut Vodka with the all-natural essence made from the fermented, aged red pepper mash used to make TABASCO® Sauce. As a bonus, there is no sugar added. The result is a warm, tingly mouth feel that teams perfectly with lemonade, livens up a hot Bloody Mary or creates a Spicy Vodkarita. We’ve included some recipes below for you to try at home. Spicy Lemonade
1 part ABSOLUT® TABASCO™
4 parts cloudy lemonade
Ice cubes
Lemon wheel for garnish
Cajun spice for rim
Chilli slice (optional)
Rim a highball glass with Cajun seasoning. Fill your glass with ice cubes. Add ABSOLUT® TABASCO™. Top up with your favourite cloudy lemonade. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a red chilli.
Spicy Bloody Mary
1 part ABSOLUT® TABASCO™
3 parts tomato juice
½ lemon juice
5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch ground black pepper
1 pinch salt
1 wedge lemon for garnish
1 bunch parsley & celery stick for garnish
Red chillies
Cajun spice for rim
Rim a highball glass with Cajun Spice. Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Add ABSOLUT® TABASCO™ and all other ingredients. Roll the shaker smooth and strain it into a highball glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge, red chillies, parsley and a celery stick.
Spicy Vodkarita
1 ½ parts ABSOLUT® TABASCO™
1 part lemon juice
3⁄4 parts agave syrup
Cajun spice for rim
Lime for garnish
Chilli slice for garnish (optional)
Rim a rocks glass with Cajun seasoning. Fill a shaker with ABSOLUT® TABASCO™, freshly squeezed lemon juice, and agave syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled. Fine strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel and a chilli slice.
