Jarryd James reflects on his breakthrough 2015 & making new music this year!

Jarryd James. A talent of 2015 who has swept many off their feet for sure. The ARIA Award winner spent much of 2015 building up an impressive amount of chatter, delivered upon with some brilliant live shows (both headline and alongside the likes of Meg Mac and others) and of course, capped it off with a win at the Australian music industry’s ‘night of nights’ back in November, taking home the ARIA for Best Pop Release.

We spoke with James backstage at the Falls Festival at Mt. Duneed before the final hours of 2015 wound down about the successes he’s locked down through 2015 and where his priorities lay for the year ahead.

“I haven’t really, yet!” The Dalby native says, admitting he’s not had the chance to fully absorb everything. “It’s funny; I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had any time to even think about it. In the brief moments that I do think about it, I have to pinch myself. Sorry to use a cliche, but it really is like it; I wake up and I just think, ‘Man I am so lucky to be able to do this for a living’.”

“I’m just doing everything that I can do,” James furthers. “I want to be really busy and I’m doing some more writing over in LA in about two weeks. I’m just going to surf this wave as much as I can and be busy and then start making more music.”
