Review: Jamiroquai – White Knuckle Ride (2010 Single)

Jamiroquai

There is nothing more enjoyable than to put on the headphones at your local music store, listen to a new record and being instantly mesmerized by a tune. Well, this could quite simply describe and summarize British band, Jamiroquai‘s new single.

Jay Kay and his band mates return after 5 years since the release of Dynamite (2005), with a new album, Rock Dust Light Star (due to be released in November), and give us a first taste of their upcoming material with White Knuckle Ride.

An highly energetic, damn good track which – without a doubt – will attract a wider audience, gain new listeners to the band, plus add extra followers to their fanbase. Fans alike may find some minor similarities with previous hit single Canned Heat, as the new piece of music is also notably influenced by disco, and especially when Kay hits some high notes in a Bee Gees manner.

With lines such as “Pressure. There’s always a way to make it better“, there is a relatively positive and motivational message here, despite the pretty gloomy track’s title that might mistakenly induce a wrong judgment.

Jamiroquoi is proving, once again, that it’s got the right recipe for a hit-single by delivering a freshly shaken up musical-cocktail, where disco, electro-funk, and synth-pop all acquaint and blend together to perfect harmonization.

The Australian release of White Knuckle Ride is judiciously scheduled with the arrival of summer and many should be seen dancing their asses off to the track.
