Next Friday, we have partnered up with Pandora Internet Radio to throw a massive Post-BIGSOUND party in Brisbane at the Black Bear Lodge! Also bringing out run of 6th Birthday Parties to an end, the event will feature a slew of the finest talent from around Australia, and today we get to know one of the local Brisbane artists playing the night –Michelle Xen, who’ll be playing with her band The Neon Wild.
Who am I?
I am Michelle Xen. I write songs in my bedroom, sew costumes, make videos and do crazy shit on stage. It’s a rolling experiment.
How I came together with my band:
I wanted to build an epic live show for my bedroom musings… so I asked around for killer musos to join my experiment, and now we are a live 5-piece in matching outfits with multiple keytars playing loudly.
We Sound Like:
Some people say we sound unique, some people say we sound like Karen O, Little Dragon, things like that. And then there was this one time a dude said we were reminded him of Peeping Tom who I had to go and look up. And found Mike Patton and a band of maniacs. Basically I wanna weep when peeps say nice things like that. Even though I am a girl and not Mike Patton. I’ll still take it though.
