Future Islands share new track and announce release date for fifth album

You know those one-hit-wonder bands who play a gig on Letterman that goes viral and then we never hear from them again? Maryland based synth-pop trio and general unstoppable force Future Islands are not one of those bands.

Future Island’s fifth studio album, The Far Field, will be released April 7th via 4AD/Remote Control Records and follows up the band’s 2014 full length Singles. Since then, these supremely talented guys have kept themselves busy with side projects, releasing albums as Pears and Moss Of Aura, while collaborating with the likes of Clams Casino and BADBADNOTGOOD.

Amongst the record of fist-pumping love songs, “Ran” has been dropped early as the first powerful cut. It’s dramatic and moody, heavy with bass and of course plenty of synth. Samuel T. Herring’s vocals croon effortlessly, pushing tenderness out with each line. You can pre-order The Far Field HERE and check out the track listing for the album below!
