- Drop details of upcoming album tour – check
- Release new single “Anne-Marie” – scheduled for May 30th
We’ll start start with the Impressed Recordings announcement, revealed yesterday in an exclusive with The Music.
Speaking with The Music, the band said:
“Stoked to be signing with Impressed Recordings, an independent label backing us to get this album out.
“Getting help pressing vinyl in 2025 is a win in itself—streaming pays nothing, and bands are expected to be full-time content creators, comedians, logistics specialists, e-comm experts—and in their spare time, write music. We’ve made something we’re proud of. If you want to support: buy the album, come to a show, bring a mate.”
Impressed Recordings is a 100% independently owned, ARIA accredited label, lovingly pressing some of the most exciting Aussie music on wax. They produce limited edition, hand-numbered releases, and if the rest of their curated collection is anything to go by, the vinyl of FANGZ’s Shui (get it?) is going to be a stunner.
Let’s cover Shui next, because the wait for this debut won’t be easy.
We’ve had a taste with singles ‘Wasting Time‘, ‘Nothing To Lose‘, ‘Same Old Story‘ and ‘Wide Awake‘ already out in the world, and some lucky fans got a sneak peak earlier this year, with the global premiere of Shui packing out Sydney’s Trocadero Room as part of Great Southern Nights.
The rest of us will have to wait for the official drop on July 4th.
The album’s release will be accompanied by a massive Australian tour – the band’s biggest to date – and will kick off in Ngunnawal/Canberra on July 3rd. The tour will also take in Meanjin/Brisbane, Tarndayna/Adelaide, Boorloo/Perth, Naarm/Melbourne, Eora/Sydney, Dharawal/Wollongong, Mulubinba/Newcastle, Yugambeh/Gold Coast and Gubbi Gubbi/Caloundra.
Brisbane fans will be particularly excited to see the band return, after their leg of festival FANGZstock was cancelled due to an arson attack on a tobacconist below venue Tomcat.
Tickets for all dates are on sale now, through the FANGZ website.
And last, but by no means least, there’s “Anne-Marie”, due out at the end of this week. It’s another ferocious, fast-paced track from the band, with a chorus purpose-built for dive bar scream-alongs. But behind the distorted guitars and double-timed drums, there’s a heartfelt message. Frontman Josh Cottreau says:
“‘Anne Marie‘ is a heartfelt tribute to my sister, Leigh-Anne Marie — a constant source of strength, support, and unconditional love. The song reflects on moments of struggle, gratitude, and personal growth, honouring the one person who never gave up, even when times were hardest. It’s a message of appreciation for her unwavering belief and a reminder to keep going and never stop doing what you love.”
The track drops May 30th, produced by Tim Maxwell (LOSER) and mixed by Jonathan Gardner (Front End Loader, Grinspoon). You can pre-save it HERE.
