Exclusive Single Premiere: Berlin Bar Hounds “Heights” (2017)

Central Coast musician Jacob Borg dives deep into some emotional musical territory the likes of The National have well traversed with his new Berlin Bar Hounds single, “Heights”. Driven by steady percussion that builds alongside a swelling keys and guitar arrangement, “Heights” is presented as a lofty cut of indie rock music, but definitely centres itself and displays its strength as it reaches its halfway mark.

“I had written the chorus a few years ago for another song that never came to be and stored it away for a while,” Borg explains of the song. “The verses were written amidst a mini life transitional period.”

“The band that I had dedicated the best part of five or so years to was coming to an end (boo hoo), a proper job beckoned (more boo hoo, haha) which led me to leave the Central Coast and move to Sydney with my other, way better, half, where we both did the city thing for a year. We live on top of the fashion shop where she worked, which was good for rent but not so good for the relationship between her unhinged boss and her. The song sort of reflects that transition and the feelings involved. Thank the Lord Almighty that we moved back to the Coast.”
