Melbourne’s Swim Season have been on our radar for a little while now, with “The Throne” in particular turning our heads. There’s something in the water over in the Melbourne scene at the moment – the last few years have been seeing some excellent young indie party starters breakthrough the ranks and stand strongly on their own.
For Swim Season, they’ve continued the momentum their first few singles and consequent live shows have brought them, with their debut EP, Cascades. Full of groove, heart, a hunger for fun and some undeniably catchy hooks, the record only bolsters the act’s reputation as one to be watching. “Soldiers”, the first tune to be lifted from Cascades is a perfect example of all the above.
The 80’s new wave influences are definitely there, but Swim Season have put their own flair to the single and have continued to ride out this groove and synth heavy wave that we’ve been loving about them. Check out the official music video below, that we’re proud to be premiering today!
