Exclusive Album Premiere: The Byzantines – You Pull It (2017 EP)

First emerging onto the scene with some catchy hooks and a sound akin to Kasabian’s younger, Adelaide-bred cousin, The Byzantines have continued to refine their sounds and broaden their horizons – the final and most recent result appearing in the form of their new EP, You Pull It.

The Britpop influences are still a dominant feature within the boys’ music but with it comes a sharper, more layered musicality than we’ve heard from The Byzantines in the past. Their recent single “Top Boy” drives hard with Michael Pietrafesa‘s vocals backed by a punching rhythm and percussion section. “Jamaica” and “She Moves” demonstrates the band’s range of influences that easily pull from the classic British vibes of The Stone Roses and early Primal Scream.

Working on the EP in Adelaide with Alex Markwell (The Delta Riggs), as well as Luke Godson and Dan Crannitch along the way, a larger musical scope for The Byzantines became realised – we’re here for it.

The boys head out on tour this weekend after a successful kick off in their hometown – listen to You Pull It below and check The Byzantines out at a venue near you!
