Oscar Galt & The Eventual Somethings have been creating some killer music representative of a canny knack for fusing grunge with slacker tones and bluesy rock for a little while now and today, the band unleashes their latest collection of the above. Their brand new EP, Drift Away, premieres on the AU this morning – the second of two twin EPs the Melbourne rock band have released within the last six months.
The EP further establishes the band as one of the exciting and fresh groups of rock musicians emerging out of the Australian east coast at the moment; Drift Away wastes no time in diving in to a musical landscape where themes of existentialism and addiction are explored, thrashing guitars and rumbling percussion are married brilliantly together and in Galt’s vocal, comes forth a strong presence of its own.
Recorded and mixed by Shane O’Mara, Drift Away is released through independent record label Bad Health (formerly Black Night Crash Records) and will be available on a limited edition 10″ vinyl that is ready for pre-order now!
Take a listen to Drift Away below and be sure to catch Oscar Galt & The Eventual Somethings launch their new music at The Grace Darling in Melbourne on May 27th, supported by The Hunted Crows, Alister Turrill and Bad Health DJs.
