EP Review: Peach PRC’s rise to pop stardom continues with debut EP Manic Dream Pixie

You think you’ve had a big week? Peach PRC set off on her national sold-out tour last Thursday then dropped her debut EP, Manic Dream Pixie, a day later!

The Aussie artist has amassed more than 2 million TikTok followers, and over 110 million combined streams, and Manic Dream Pixie is everything we’ve come to expect from her, filled with dreamy hooks, thoughtful lyrics, and an undeniable love for 2000s pop. Of her sound, Peach PRC says:

“I’ve always been in love with the pop genre and that’s the music I strive to make. Even when some of my lyrics are dark and kind of disturbing, I want the songs to feel bright and uplifting – and contrary to what they’re saying.”

Opening with “Kinda Famous”, a tale of celebrity infatuation that’ll resonate with just about anyone, no matter what posters dominated your bedroom walls as a teenager, the EP is a joy from start to finish. “Perfect For You” might be best known for its sample of Paris Hilton’s “Stars Are Blind”, but it’s a wonderful pop song in its own right, while “F U Goodbye” will scratch all those angry break-up itches. With shades of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” and HelloGoodbye’s “Here In Your Arms”, it’s a brilliant mash-up of electro-dance and Peach PRC’s own brand of pop, tailor-made for post-break-up playlists.

There’s also sweet love song “Loved You Before”, and the self-reflective “Favourite Person”. If “F U Goodbye” laid the blame firmly at the feet of the ex, then “Favourite Person” sees Peach PRC examining her own part in a relationship’s breakdown and the difficulties of letting go. Manic Dream Pixie wraps up with “Dear Inner Child”, a heartfelt message to our younger selves, filled with empathy, kindness, and messages many of us likely needed to hear.

Blending infectious pop with reflective lyrics and beautifully controlled vocals, Manic Dream Pixie showcases Peach PRC’s ability to tell a story and make it stick. Brimming with the personality so many TikTok followers have come to know and love, it’s a genuine delight to listen to. If this and the sold-out run of shows are anything to go by, Peach PRC is only going to go from strength to strength.
