Entries are open for the 2017 South Australian Music Awards

The 2017 South Australian Music Awards have now opened entries for musicians, venues and festivals to be nominated for the November-announced awards! The third annual event, helmed by MusicSA, will be recognising and celebrating the achievements of South Australian artists and the industry across a range of categories, split into two categories – The People’s Choice Awards and The Peer Voted Awards.

The categories for the SA Music Awards, as voted by industry peers include:

BEST STUDIO
BEST ENGINEER

BEST MUSIC FESTIVAL/EVENT (Presented by Moshtix)
BEST MUSIC VENUE
BEST MANAGER

BEST COVER ART
BEST MUSIC VIDEO
BEST SONG (Presented by APRA/AMCOS)
BEST NEW ARTIST
BEST ABORIGINAL or TORRES STRAIT ISLAND ARTIST

BEST GROUP
BEST MALE ARTIST
BEST FEMALE ARTIST
BEST RELEASE

A judging panel of 20 industry experts will weigh in on the nominees in deciding on the winners, including the likes of Johann Ponniah (I OH YOU), Trials (A.B. ORIGINAL), Dorothy Markek (Double J) and Harvey Saward (Remote Control Records).

When it comes to The People’s Choice categories, these genre awards include:

BLUES/ROOTS AWARD (Presented by Radio Adelaide)
COUNTRY AWARD (Presented by Grace Emily Hotel)
ELECTRONIC AWARD (Presented by Fresh 92.7)
EXPERIMENTAL AWARD (Present by Ancient World)
FOLK AWARD (Presented by Wheatsheaf Hotel)
HEAVY AWARD (Presented by Australian Rock & Metal Institute)
HIP HOP AWARD (Presented by Northern Sound System)
JAZZ/ART MUSIC AWARD (Presented by Elder Conservatorium)
POP AWARD (Presented by The Gov)
PUNK AWARD (Presented by Crown & Anchor)
ROCK AWARD (Presented by Fat Controller)
WORLD MUSIC AWARD (Presented by WOMADelaide)
