Crowded House are heading out on tour this October and November, but not in the way you’d usually expect. Instead of the arenas and outdoor stages we’re used to seeing them on, they’ll play a string of smaller, more intimate venues across the country in a rare pop-up tour. The seven dates will not only bring the band closer to the songs but to the people singing them back.
It’s the first time in years you’ll be able to catch them like this; in theatres, convention centres, and rooms that somehow contain their sound. The run follows the release of Gravity Stairs, their eighth studio album. It’s quietly affecting, warm, and full of the kind of sharpness that works best live.
The current lineup, led by founding members Neil Finn and Nick Seymour, is shaping up to be more locked in than ever. Between the new record and a hefty back catalogue that plunges you into the past, this tour is a rare, close-up chance to see one of the country’s most enduring bands still pushing forward.
