Album Review: Benjamin Booker – Benjamin Booker (2014 LP)

Well, I get it now. Having missed the boat at SXSW but nonetheless seen his name dripping around the interwebs – including our own website – in the last few months, I had somehow managed to get away with not listening to Benjamin Booker on record until this past week.

The debut, self-titled record, from the talented New Orleans singer/songwriter shines as a near-perfect album. It’s scuzzy, fuzzy, soulful and makes you all warm inside. It’s the sort of music that makes you want to dance, easily brightening up your day on every listen. I’m on my fifth or sixth listen now, as I write this article, and I still get goosebumps.
