Sydney electronic pop trio Glades are releasing their long awaited debut album, To Love You. Featuring singles “Eyes Wide Shut”, “Not About You”, “Drive” and “Do Right”, the album is out this Friday. With a remarkable 150 million streams under their belt already, this trio clearly aren’t messing around.
To Love You opens with a track called “Nervous Energy”. The vocals are instantly impressive, perfectly accompanying the somewhat understated yet danceable beat. Followed by “Do Right”, this single is an uncomplicated pop song that is easy to listen to and again, highlighting the brilliant vocals of Karina Wykes. “Not About You”, another single, encompasses everything you could want in an electronic pop song, with a catchy beat and lyrics that are impossible to resist singing along to. This track is bound to be an audience favourite.
“80 Miles” and “Neon Buzz” switch up the vibe with a slightly rockier, almost The 1975 style. They deliver that electric guitar feel, while still ticking that electro-pop box. “Sweetheart” rides this wave, offering a catchy track that is easy to listen to (and hard to get out of your head). Latest single “Eyes Wide Shut” and new track “Porcelain” bring us straight back to that unapologetic electronic pop feel that audiences are sure to appreciate.
“Drive” feels like early Halsey, delivering emotion, passion and a fantastic beat; definitely a favourite from this record. “Better Love” is slow, sentimental and touching. The emotion in this track is practically palpable. Closing To Love You is “Through to You”, another gentle and moving song that provides a tender finish to the record.

“To Love You explores the idea that there’s more to love than pure romance. Not only romantic love; it explores different forms of love, such as loving the people around you, loving those who can’t express that they need love, as well as loving yourself. It maps the progression of a relationship from the first spark, to its complications, and resolves with the realisation that everyone needs love in all its different forms.”
With a celebration of love at its core (it’s in the name after all), To Love You is a debut that does not disappoint. With a brilliant combination of upbeat, danceable electronic tracks and passionate, pop ballads, the album is one which will find itself permanently embedded in your Summer playlist.
