In this issue: Metallica are releasing a new album. There are other peeps doing some pretty cool things too, and Nick Cave is still alive, but Metallica are releasing a new album.
METALLICA
Hooooo boy! Here we go. After a long eight year wait, Lars tingled our spines when he announced Metallica would soon release their new record Hardwired… to Self Destruct and we finally have a date! While the LP boasts two discs, the track list in minimal boasting only 12 songs. Guys, we are in for smoking monsters. Prepare your neck for November 18, because the undisputed lords of heavy metal are back.
DORSAL FINS
We knew it was coming! After the release of lead track ‘Sedated’, Dorsal Fins have announced the release of their sophomore album, Digital Zodiac and accompanying Aussie tour! If the track is anything to go by, we are in for a trippy treat, with Jarrad Brown having this to say – “When the sun slinks way too low, and the stars forget to shine, and you need a cryogenic sleep chamber to knock you out and wake up somewhere a 1000 years in the future… you write a song like “Sedated”.. and then you feel better.” I feel better. Do you feel better? The record is out October 28th.
THE SWORD
Following nearly a year of heavy promo for their fifth studio album High Country, heavy metal legends The Sword are back, but this time with a stripped down version of the same, aptly titled Low Country. The yin to High Country’s yang, The Sword promise an acoustic experiment which if they pull off, could be one of the most exciting things to happen in the genre in 2016. Although, I’m not sure you’ve heard, but Metallica are releasing a new album sooooo…
Low Country drops on September 23, after which the band hit the road with tour dates set for Europe, the UK, the US, Canada, and Australia! Pre-order Low Country HERE.
NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS
Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds are pulling a Beyonce, announcing not only the release of their sixteenth album Skeleton Tree, but a 3D feature film to go along with it! Directed by Andrew Dominik (Chopper, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Killing Them Softly) One More Time With Feeling will screen in more than 800 cinemas across the world on 8th September 2016, immediately prior to the release of Skeleton Tree the following day.
